Eli Lilly sued six retatrutide sellers. Here’s the documented record.

On August 12, 2026 Eli Lilly filed six federal lawsuits over retatrutide — four against research-use-only peptide vendors, one med spa, one compounding pharmacy. We track it from the dockets and update as filings land.

What Lilly alleges

That the “research use only” label was a pretext — that the sellers supplied dosing instructions, ran consumer-facing storefronts without prescriptions, and served buyers who intended to inject the compound themselves. Retatrutide is still in Phase 3 and is not approved by any regulator anywhere in the world.

The framing is the story: no patent claims, no trademark claims in any of the six. Lilly pleaded state consumer-protection statutes across seven states plus Texas common law. The RUO disclaimer isn’t being treated as a defence — it’s being treated as the misrepresentation.

These are allegations. No defendant has been found liable, and none has filed a public denial as of this update.

Aug 12 — six complaints filed; Lilly calls on platforms, payment processors and regulators to act, citing 14,000+ listings reported and 200+ referrals to authorities.
Aug 19 / Aug 25 — Aesthetic Envy and Striker Pharmacy execute waivers of service; responses land roughly mid-to-late October.
Aug 27 — Fifth Circuit affirms for FDA in the tirzepatide compounding appeal.
Aug 31 — Lilly files an amended complaint against Astra LLC.
Sept 24 — Seventh Circuit oral argument, Lilly v. FDA, on whether retatrutide is a biologic.

What it changes for this index

None of the vendors priced on this board is a defendant, and none of the compounds we index — BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu and the rest — is the subject of these filings. What changes is the standard. These companies were not sued over product quality. They were sued over how they marketed it. Price still matters; so does whether a vendor publishes real third-party testing and keeps its research-use framing honest.
